The group wants to help deaf people
take part in social life and cultural life.

The group believes in equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The group works with deaf people and for deaf people.

Within the group, there are researchers and students.

Within the group,
there are deaf people,
disabled people, es personnes handicapées,
people with mental health problems,
and other people that are different.

CHAIR GOALS

The Canada Research Chair on Cultural Citizenship of Deaf People and Cultural Equity Practices has many goals.

The group wants to UNDERSTAND how deaf people live

THE GROUP WANTS TO :

  • work with deaf people to explain how they experience society.
  • understand the barriers faced by deaf people.
  • include deaf people in the culture.
  • learn which groups have the most power in both culture and society.
  • understand how the most powerful groups influence the lives of deaf people.

The group wants to MAKE culture ACCESSIBLE in the same way to everyone

The group wants to ENCOURAGE the creative process in different signe language

THE GROUP WANTS TO :

  • find good ideas all over the world to make culture more accessible to deaf people.
  • find out what helps to make culture accessible to everyone.
  • find the barriers to an accessible culture for all.
  • make culture accessible to everyone.
  • encourage the creative process in sign language using inclusive technologies.
  • encourage deaf people’s participation in culture.

The group wants to CREATE instructions for doing research that respects deaf people

THE GROUP WANTS TO :

  • work with deaf people to identify the problems encountered in deaf research.
  • find ways to do research while respecting deaf people.
  • create instructions for doing research with deaf people.
